this is the first thing I made jess, and the only thing he hasn’t lost.

I had been having a fairly sucky, doubtful, what the fuck am I doing with my life kind of time and decided to chuck everything in and spend some quality time on the dole. I can’t remember just where I got the idea, but knew that Jess liked that strong, graphic Russian look, so I printed this Rodchenko picture off the internet and set to work.

So, knitting has been kicking my arse lately. Have been working on the bitch, but took a brief respite with this excitingly hued summer top

But which is huuuuuuge. Hangs like psychedelic elephant skin on me.

We went out to Hinatawada to see the ume (plum) blossoms on Sunday along with several thousand other folk.

It was pretty and smelled nice.
february. how was it for you? March 7, 2007

February is gone and the words I would use to describe it include:
fine
okay
what-evs
sigh
At least it’s not dark in the morning any more.
Anyway following is a list of my months pursuits, something I hope to be a semi-regular feature here. This is mainly to aid my addled memory in the years to come. A short, to the point list about what I read, listened to and watched. I see it saving me a lot of time once i retire. I can reminisce in a time efficient fashion, thus freeing up time for bowls, knitting and amateur sleuthing.
kamakura March 5, 2007

Kamakura is my favourite day trip from Tokyo. When we first got to Japan we stayed with a friend down that way for a month (thanks Tanya!), and every time I go down there, I get all those lung-tightening, exciting feelings i had when we first moved here. If we were going to be long term residents in Japan, I think it is the only place I could live. It’s close to the water, has lots of beautiful temples, and plenty of trees. It is just much more relaxed than Tokyo, and only an hour away.
Last weekend we visited Kenchoji , an old and beautiful Zen temple, with lovely buildings and spare, peaceful gardens. And a nice temple cat.
